Entrepreneurs and active business owners

Swiss Residence Permit for Entrepreneurs

Plan Swiss residence as an active entrepreneur: citizenship, proposed work, business viability and family arrangements all matter. Owning a Swiss company does not itself grant a permit.

Can I get Swiss residence by starting a company?

Company registration does not itself confer residence or work permission. The assessment depends on citizenship, existing status and the proposed activity. EU/EFTA founders and third-country nationals follow different rules; establish the intended immigration basis before relying on incorporation as part of the move.

What should an entrepreneur prepare for the first assessment?

Prepare a summary of your experience, business model, ownership, funding, expected customers and proposed Swiss team. Explain your own role and where work and management decisions will take place. A specialist can then identify which evidence and authority requirements apply to the route.

Can I keep managing an overseas company from Switzerland?

Describe the work you intend to perform from Switzerland, even if customers and the company remain abroad. Ask immigration and tax specialists to assess that activity, including any company-management, payroll or reporting consequences. Foreign ownership or overseas clients alone do not establish a compatible residence and tax arrangement.
